We are now offering kits with a three-month supply of Opill!

In response to increased barriers to reproductive healthcare and with hurricane season starting June 1st, we are mailing kits with 3 months of Opill to people in Louisiana, Mississippi, Texas, Florida, and Arkansas.

After hurricanes and other climate crises, people often encounter extra obstacles in accessing their medications, including local pharmacy closures in impacted areas and delays in transferring their prescriptions to other pharmacies, and housing instability.

Consider adding a 3-month Opill supply to your evacuation bag or hurricane preparation supplies.

These kits are a limited supply pilot program and may not be available all the time. If you like using Opill, let us know!

What’s included in a kit?

  • 3 month supply of Opill

  • Condoms

  • 1 dose of Emergency Contraception

  • Pregnancy tests

  • Our zine on emergency contraception

  • Additional stickers and resources as available

What is Opill?

Opill is a progestin-only, daily birth control pill. It is a regular contraceptive (aka birth control) that you take every day, all the time, to prevent pregnancy. Opill is the first FDA daily contraceptive pill that you do not need a prescription for from a doctor, anyone can purchase it over-the-counter at a pharmacy (like emergency contraceptives, band aids, or advil)!

Regular contraceptive birth control is sometimes described as “plan a”: if it used properly, you don’t need to use “plan b” which is a one-time emergency contraceptive or “morning after pill” that we also offer.

Important things to know about Opill

• You can start your first pack on any day of your cycle. Just make sure to take it at the same time every day. Because Opill is a progestin-only birth control pill (sometimes called a “mini” pill), you can not skip any days of this medication. If you miss a day, make sure you use a backup method (like a condom) when having sex.

• Opill protects against pregnancy, but does not protect against sexually transmitted infections and diseases. Only condoms protect against STIs, and you can always use condoms in combination with a birth control pill.

• Opill is safe for any age, as long as you have started menstruating.

• Opill will work no matter how much you weigh.

• Be sure to read the warnings and instructions that come in the box very carefully. If you have certain cancers or allergies, you should not use this medication.
